A consultation and suitability screening are completed before your first treatment. See Before you book below.

The treatment room at Health Pod Frodsham, with a cream treatment bed and rolled bolster centred between dark timber cabinetry, a shelved alcove and two shuttered windows.

Swedish Massage is classic massage: long, flowing strokes, kneading and gentle pressure, adapted throughout to your comfort and your preferences. Oil is applied to the skin so the strokes can flow.

You are given privacy to undress to the level required for the areas being worked on, and are appropriately covered throughout — only the area being massaged is uncovered. You can ask for more or less pressure, or to stop, at any point.

Choose a full hour for the body, or half an hour focused on the back, or on the face and head. At Health Pod Frodsham, Swedish Massage is offered as a relaxing complementary wellbeing treatment. It does not diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions and does not replace medical care. Individual responses vary.

What happens during a session

  • A short consultation, so your therapist knows your preferences and anything to work around.
  • You are given privacy to undress to the level required and are appropriately covered throughout; only the area being worked on is uncovered.
  • Oil is applied, and the massage works through long flowing strokes, kneading and gentle pressure, adapted to your comfort.
  • Tell your therapist at any point if you would like more or less pressure, or if you would like to stop.

Frequently asked questions

Which length should I choose?

A full body massage is 60 minutes. The 30-minute options are focused: one on the back, one on the face and head. Your therapist will happily talk it through at your consultation.

Do I have to undress?

You undress to the level required for the areas being worked on, in private, and you are appropriately covered throughout — only the area being massaged is uncovered. For the face and head massage you stay clothed.

Is oil used?

Yes. Oil is applied to the skin so the strokes can flow. Please tell your therapist about any allergies or skin sensitivities at your consultation.

What if the pressure is too much, or not enough?

Say so at any point. The pressure is adapted to your comfort and preferences, and you can ask your therapist to ease off, work more firmly, or stop altogether.
