Reiki is a gentle complementary wellbeing practice originating in Japan. You remain fully clothed and rest comfortably while the practitioner uses a sequence of light hand positions, either resting gently on or held just above the body. There is no massage, manipulation or pressure, and intimate areas are never touched.
Reiki is based on a traditional belief in working with 'universal life energy'. These energy concepts are part of Reiki tradition and are not medical or scientific diagnoses. Many clients choose Reiki simply for the calm setting and a quiet period of stillness that helps them relax and focus on rest and self-care. You can also request hands-off Reiki, where the practitioner's hands stay above the body without direct touch.
At Health Pod Frodsham, Reiki is offered as a relaxing complementary wellbeing treatment. It does not diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions and does not replace medical or psychological care. Individual experiences vary and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions
What happens during a Reiki session?
You remain fully clothed and rest on the treatment couch. The practitioner moves through a series of gentle hand positions, resting lightly on or just above the body. There is no massage or pressure, and you can speak, change position or ask to stop at any time.
Will I be touched?
Only with your consent. You can choose hands-off Reiki, where the practitioner's hands remain just above the body without direct touch. Intimate areas are never touched.
What might I feel?
Some clients feel warmth, coolness, tingling, heaviness or deep relaxation; others feel nothing unusual at all. There is no 'correct' sensation, and a lack of sensation does not mean the session hasn't worked.
How long is a session?
A Reiki treatment is approximately 60 minutes. Additional time may be needed for your initial consultation and aftercare discussion.
Is Reiki a medical treatment?
No. Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice. It does not diagnose or treat conditions and must never be used to delay medical assessment or replace prescribed treatment. Never stop or alter prescribed medication without first speaking to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Do I need a consultation?
Yes. All clients complete a consultation and suitability screening before their first treatment.
