Facial Sculpting & Buccal Massage is a specialist hands-on facial wellbeing treatment combining external facial massage with intra-oral (inside the mouth) buccal massage. At Health Pod Frodsham it also includes gentle facial lymphatic drainage using a Gua Sha tool, facial cupping and cooling ice globes to finish.

It is designed as a relaxing, personalised facial massage experience and may temporarily improve the appearance of puffiness and facial definition. Buccal massage is performed with single-use gloves using appropriate infection-control procedures, and you can ask for that stage to stop at any time. It is not a medical, dental or dermatological treatment, does not permanently reshape facial anatomy, and results vary.

What happens during a session

  • External facial sculpting massage across the face, jaw and neck
  • Gentle facial lymphatic drainage and Gua Sha techniques using light pressure
  • Facial cupping using gentle suction on appropriate areas
  • Intra-oral buccal massage using single-use gloves, with your consent — you can ask for this stage to stop at any time
  • A cooling ice globe finish

Potential benefits

  • Relaxation and facial wellbeing
  • Temporary reduction in the appearance of puffiness
  • A feeling of reduced facial tension and jaw relaxation for some clients
  • A temporary feeling of facial definition and a refreshed appearance
  • A cooling, soothing finish from the ice globes

Who may benefit

  • Adults seeking a relaxing facial massage
  • Those who feel facial or jaw tension
  • Clients concerned about temporary facial puffiness
  • Those including facial massage within a wider self-care routine

Before you book

Your wellbeing comes first. Everyone completes a consultation and suitability screening before their first treatment, so we can make sure it’s right for you. The notes below help you know what to tell us.

May not be suitable if you have

  • Botox or dermal fillers within the previous 2 weeks (minimum) — the appointment is postponed and rearranged
  • Active cold sores or other active herpes lesions around the mouth or face
  • Active oral infection, dental abscess, significant gum infection or severe mouth ulcers
  • Open wounds, broken skin or active skin infection in the treatment area
  • Severe active inflammatory skin flare or significant facial irritation
  • Fever, contagious illness or feeling acutely unwell
  • Significant unexplained facial swelling or severe new facial pain

May need a chat or clearance first

  • Recent dental work or oral surgery (extractions, implants) — buccal massage postponed until tissues have healed and dental advice followed
  • Recent facial surgery, threads, laser, microneedling, chemical peels or other advanced procedures — clearance or confirmation from the treating practitioner may be requested
  • All clients complete a consultation and suitability screening before treatment

These lists are not exhaustive. Treatment may be adapted, postponed or declined on safety grounds, and this therapy does not replace advice from your GP or healthcare professional.

Consultation first. All clients complete a consultation and suitability screening before their first treatment. This is a complementary wellbeing therapy — it supports relaxation, comfort and general wellbeing and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, advice or treatment. Individual responses vary.

Frequently asked questions

What does the treatment include?

External facial sculpting massage, gentle lymphatic-style and Gua Sha techniques, facial cupping, intra-oral buccal massage using single-use gloves, and a cooling ice globe finish.

I've had Botox or dermal fillers — can I book?

Not straight away. Facial Sculpting & Buccal Massage cannot be carried out for a minimum of 2 weeks after Botox or dermal fillers. Tell your therapist the date of your treatment; if it was within the previous 2 weeks, your appointment will be rearranged. If your aesthetic practitioner has advised a longer period, their advice takes priority.

Is the buccal (inside-the-mouth) massage optional?

Yes. The therapist explains the intra-oral stage and obtains your consent, wears single-use gloves, and works on the cheek and jaw tissues. You can ask for it to stop at any time.

Will facial cupping or Gua Sha leave marks?

They can cause temporary redness, sensitivity or bruising — a response to pressure or suction on the skin and superficial blood vessels, not 'toxins leaving the body'. They are not performed over open wounds or inflamed or infected skin.

I've had recent dental work — is that a problem?

Buccal massage may need to be postponed after recent dental work or oral surgery (such as extractions or implants) until tissues have healed and dental advice has been followed. Please also tell your therapist about cold sores, mouth ulcers, gum infections or oral infections.

How long is the treatment?

The single treatment is 60 minutes.
